Veterinary Spinal Manipulation
WHat is vsmt?
Veterinary spinal manipulation therapy uses the principles of chiropractic care in order to provide a non surgical and drug free therapy to reduce pain and improve quality of life and performance for animals.
Just like in adjustments performed by a human chiropractor, a high velocity, low amplitude force is applied to specific joints at very specific angles to correct restrictions in the range of motion of joints, and to restore neuro-muscular function and improve biomechanics.
Dr. Laura has completed an intensive course in veterinary spinal manipulation therapy for veterinarians and chiropractors in order to be able to offer this manual therapy to your animals. She currently offers VSMT appointments at Galt Animal Hospital in Cambridge ON for dogs and cats within the surrounding areas of Cambridge. Please contact Galt Animal Hospital at 519-621-1980 to book. Mobile VSMT services are available for horses throughout Southwestern Ontario and part of the Greater Toronto Area. Mobile VSMT services may be arranged for dogs and cats that are outside the Cambridge/Kitchener/Waterloo area.
What to expect:
The first assessment will include a thorough physical exam, gait analysis, and neurological assessment. Typically animals will initially be treated weekly for 3-4 weeks in order to see the full benefits of the adjustments. The frequency of treatments after this will depend on your animals individual needs.
